These instructions will make a 6 1/2 inch bracelet, wrapped three times. For a longer or shorter bracelet, adjust the number of beads knotted on the silk thread.
- Begin by watching our video on how to do pearl knotting using tweezers.
- Following what you learned in the video, unwrap your Griffin silk from the card and find the end of the cord without the attached needle. Make an overhand knot and triple knot it so it will stay securely in the clamshell knot cover.
- As shown in the video, slide the hole of one silver clamshell knot cover onto the needle tip of your thread and slide it down to your knot so the clamshell cups the knot. Place a dab of Hypo Cement on the knot. Trim off the thread tail with thread snips. Gently close the knot cover with pliers.
- Make one overhand knot using tweezers to secure the clamshell cover in place.
- Now you will begin knotting your pearls and gemstone beads, starting with 1 light purple 4mm candy jade bead. Then string: 5 purple pearls, 1 light purple 4mm jade bead, 1 purple 6mm jade bead, 1 light purple 4mm jade bead. Repeat this pattern 9 more times. Then string 5 purple pearls, followed by 1 light purple 4mm candy jade bead. At this point your knotted piece should be 20 inches long.
- Once your knotting is done, create a knot after the last pearl. String on another silver clamshell knot cover so the clamshell is facing away from the last knot. Make an overhand knot close to the clamshell cup to secure the knot cover, and then triple knot it. Place a dab of Hypo Cement on the knot. Trim off the thread tail with thread snips. Then close the knot cover with pliers.
- Slide the open hook attached to one clamshell knot cover through the loop of your clasp. Use flat nose pliers to close the hook.
- Slide one jump ring onto the open hook attached to the other clamshell knot cover. Use pliers to close the hook.
- Wrap the bracelet around your wrist three times, and enjoy!
