- The step by step instructions for this earring project are demonstrated in the video: How to Make Domino Earrings Using Image Transfers and Aanraku Bails.
- If you prefer written instructions, please see below.
- Remember to double all these instructions to make your matched pair of earrings.
- First, cut out your image to fit on top of the domino. To do this, cut out your image so that it is larger then the flat surface of the domino. Slowly cut it down little by little, constantly checking it against the domino, until you have the right size. Once you have the right size, carefully cut the corners so that they are rounded like those of the domino.
- Watch our video How to Use Transfer Graphics to Make Jewelry and apply it to the flat (non-dotted) side of the domino. Carefully smooth out so as to remove any air bubbles. Do not rub hard, doing so will cause the image to slide off or break.
- Once the image is on the domino and dry, paint a layer of Nunn Sealant over the top of the image, making sure to paint over the edges where it touches the domino. Let dry for 10-15 minutes. Paint a second layer of sealant and let dry.
- Take a small piece of scrap wire or a toothpick and apply a dab of E6000 to the flat glue-on tab of your Aanraku earring bail. Flip over and press into place on the backside of the domino. Make sure that you are gluing on the bail to the top (backside) of the domino in relation to how you placed the image. Let dry.
- The final step is to attach the earring hook. Using your chain nose pliers, open the loop at the base of the earring hook the same way you would open a jump ring and link it to the hoop at the top of the Aanraku bail. Close up the loop.
