Note that you can make the chain as long as you need to fit your wrist. The clasp, and finishing jump rings will add about 1" to the total length. If you add a small piece of tape to the end of the ribbon it will be much easier to thread.
- Start by cutting your chain into three equal pieces. I cut mine 8 inches long each. They should equal the size you want the bracelet to be; keeping in mind the 1" for the clasp.
- Lay one of the chains flat. Take the red ribbon (leaving a 5 inch tail) and begin to thread it through the top side of the chain and around each link with an up, over and through method. Continue for the length of the chain.
- Take the second chain and line it up with the first chain. Use the white ribbon (again leaving a 5 inch tail) to lace around the top of the middle chain and the bottom of the red ribbon chain. Continue tying the chains together in this manner until you reach the end of the chains.
- Now take the final chain and repeat the same process with the blue ribbon as you did the white ribbon.
- By now you should have three chains wrapped in ribbons and wrapped to each other. Red, white, blue.
- Tie the first ends of all three ribbon together in a simple overhand knot. You can secure the knot with a dab of E6000 glue for a stronger bond. Leave about 3" of ribbon tails so they can hang from the wrist.
- Tie the other ends of the ribbon together, form a knot and secure with glue. Let the glue dry and then clip the ribbon with your scissors.
- Open a jump ring and attach it to the three chain links on the end of the bracelet. Close the jump ring. Do this on the other side as well.
- Now for the clasp. On one end, attach the circle part of the toggle clasp to the jump ring that you just attached.
- For the bar side of the clasp, add one more jump ring to the one you have already attached; giving the clasp some space. Before closing the jump ring, attach the toggle bar. Close the jump ring.
- For the charms: star, flag, star. Find the center link in the chain and attach the flag charm with a jump ring. On both sides of the bracelet, equal distance from the flag, attach the star charms using jump rings. I have spaced them three links in either direction.
