Beware the seam

I was looking for some orange melon beads to turn into pumpkin earrings, and since my usual awesome ones that I get from Beadaholique have been out of stock (for almost a year!), I thought I'd try these. In my opinion, in person the beads looked extremely cheap. They have a seam that runs around the center of the bead that is very visible in person, but not so visible in the photos, so I was surprised to see it when I opened the package. They look and feel more like plastic than glass (probably because of the seam), and certainly are nowhere near the quality I would expect from Czech glass. To me, they look like something I would find a string of 20 of for $1 in a bargain bin. They certainly won't work for my purposes, but if it weren't for the very obvious seam around the middle, I might recommend them for making inexpensive, fun party jewelry or something like that. Oh, and the stems are indeed a very, very, very dark green (almost black), in case anyone is wondering since, at least to me, they looked black in the photo.
