- Before beginning this project, review this video on how to make a circular brick stitch round.
- You will be making 3 separate rounds: small medium, and large. For each round, you will need 3 feet of olive green thread threaded onto a size 10 or 12 needle.
- The first round should follow this pattern: The center 3 beads, which you will be doing the ladder stitch with, should be size 11/0 Toho beads in transparent frosted teal. The second row should be 11/0 Toho beads in marbled opaque turquoise/blue. The third row should be 11/0 Toho beads in rainbow light topaz/sea foam lined. See this video on how to tie off your thread and then tie off your thread, weave a bit back into the bead work and cut off excess thread. Take the thread which is sticking out from where you started and thread a needle onto it. Tie off this thread now the same way as the other and weave some of the thread into the beadwork. Cut off excess thread. You just made the smallest round.
- For the next round, follow the same exact pattern of the first, but add a 4th row of transparent frosted teal. Tie off the same way as you did to the first round. You have just made the medium round.
- For the third and final round, follow the same pattern as the medium round, but add a 5th row of marbled opaque turquoise/blue and a 6th round of rainbow light topaz/sea foam lined. Tie off the round. You now have your large round.
- Cut 18 inches of thread and thread a needle onto it. Take one of your Vintaj filigree flowers and tie the end of your thread to the backside of it. Secure it well but leave a tail of 5 inches. Now center your smallest round in the middle of the filigree front side. By going from the back of the filigree to the front of the beaded round (through the open work holes in the filigree), sew your smallest round to the filigree. Be careful and discreet with your stitching, just go back and forth from back to front and try to sew over the thread bridges between the bead and do not sew across the top of the bead itself. When you feel that the beaded round is secure, take your needle and thread back through the beadwork to the backside of the filigree so it end is close to the tail you started with. Remove the needle and tie a surgeons knot using the two threads (the tail and the one you were sewing with). Repeat the knot once more just to make sure it is secure and then cut off excess threads.
- We will now connect our pieces together. See the photo so you have a visual to work from. Open a 4mm jump ring (see video) and link it through the gap between 2 beads on the outside row of your largest circular brick stitch round. Now link that same jump ring to one of the open work holes on the outer rim of the brass filigree with the beadwork in the center. Close the jump ring.
- Open another jump ring and and link it through the gap between 2 beads on the outside row of your medium sized circular brick stitch round. Now link that same jump ring to one of the open work holes on the outer rim of the brass filigree with the beadwork in the center - directly opposite the other jump ring you connected in the previous step. Close the jump ring.
- Open the loop at the base of your earring hook the same way you would open a jump ring. Link it through the gap between two beads on the outer row of your medium row, opposite the jump ring which is linked to this same round. Close the loop.
- Enjoy!
