Before you begin, watch the video on
How to Use a Jewel Setter. You will also need a scrap piece of wire or glue applicator for this project.
- Begin by opening two jump rings using your chain nose pliers.
- Place your filigree stamping vertically, making sure there is a point at the top. Refer to the photo. Take your open jump rings and attach them onto the filigree openings at either side of the top design of the stamping.
- Open the clasp on your blue organza ribbon and string the non-lobster clasp side through the two jump rings. Pull one side of the ribbon until it reaches the other side. Close the clasp back up. Your stamping should be hanging off of your ribbon.
- Now you will begin decorating your filigree stamping with Austrian crystal flatback rhinestones.
- Before you begin adding your rhinestones, remember that you can place them in any design or pattern you like. To apply the crystals, place a dab of glue on your filigree where you want them, use your jewel setter tool to lift up the flatbacks and place onto your stamping. Use the pointy end of the jewel setter to make adjustments. Refer back to the video for additional assistance.
- I began by taking the 8 larger Austrian crystal flatbacks in Night Shade and Caribbean Opal and placed them in a circular pattern in the center of the filigree stamping, with 1 Caribbean Opal rhinestone in the center of the circle.
- Then around the edges of the stamping, I added 16 of the smaller rhinestone flatbacks in Light Turquoise and Sapphire (6 of each). I also added 8 within the circle pattern (4 of each). Please refer to the photo to emulate my exact design.
- Once you are done, set aside to dry for an hour. Then with your tweezers, remove any left over glue from your stamping (you can do this just by nudging the tip of your tweezers under where glue might have spilled over and pulling it off of the stamping. Only do this where there are big globs of extra glue, you might or might not have any depending upon how careful you were).
- Lastly, add the 12 Light Turquoise rhinestones to your blue ribbon. You will add these the same way you added them to the filigree. Refer to the photo for the exact design.
- Your necklace is now ready.
