Retired - Buttercup Chain Earrings

PROJECT E185
Designer: Andrea Morici
Skill Level: Beginner
These earrings are a little bit sweet and girly, and a little bit punk and edgy. Because of the use of mixed metal chain, they are very versatile.
Instructions

Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

  1. Remember to double all of the instructions to make both earrings. Onto a headpin, thread a fluted antiqued copper bead and the yellow lucite flower. Create a simple wire loop close to the back of the flower and trim off excess wire. Set this aside.
  2. Cut two pieces of the antiqued gold chain thirteen links (approximately an inch and a half) long. Add an oval jump ring to one end of both pieces of antiqued gold chain.
  3. Cut two pieces of the antiqued copper rolo chain twenty one links (approximately one and three quarters inches) long.
  4. Cut one piece of the gunmetal chain twelve links (approximately two inches) long.
  5. Open a large gold plated jump ring and thread the chain onto it in this order:
  6. an antiqued gold chain segment (through the oval jump ring at the end)
  7. an antiqued copper rolo chain segment (through the last link)
  8. the gunmetal chain segment (through the last link)
  9. the other antiqued copper rolo chain segment
  10. the other antiqued gold chain segment
  11. Close the jump ring once more.
  12. Gently open the loop on the earring hook, the way you would open a jump ring.
  13. Onto the loop, add the following: the lucite flower dangle, the gold plated jump ring containing the chain segments, and finally the large yellow filigree stamping.
  14. Close the loop again.
