hi this is kat with beadaholique.com for you okay so let's go ahead and get started so the first thing I want to talk to you about is this little cute charm that I have now this is a lovely little Daisy charm and you can see that it has this beautiful outside all those petals are nice and silvery and that inside is gold now instead of having to choose which color findings you want to use we actually have a really neat little trick so we have this silver and gold earring wire so as you can see there's that coil and that ball that is gonna be gold and the little wire that creates that hook is silver so you can actually use these anytime you're using a charm that has that gold and silver in it okay now speaking of charms one thing I want to point out to you is that many charms whether you get us from get them from us or from somewhere else come with a nice little jump ring now let's say you take it out of the bag and you completely forget about that jump ring it falls on the floor happens to all of us no need to worry the best style of jump ring to probably replace that is going to be a five millimeter 20 gauge open jump ring so that's gonna be the most standard size so in case it falls and you can't find it don't fret those jump ring sizes are always good to have on hand in gold and silver also gunmetal is great and take brass but that 5 millimeter 20 gauge open jump ring is gonna be your friend okay so let's talk about something else here so I have these head pins now these are really long three-inch head pins and they're 21 gauge now these are gunmetal too so they actually match a little bit closer to the metals that I'm working with so if your component is silver or antique silver even you could go with an antique silver or you could go with a gun and it just kind of depends on the tone sometimes the tone works you know some Silver's tend to be a little bit different it just depends on the composition and there's really you know the best thing to do is to keep all of these sort of on hand but let's say you don't want to go yard and you don't want to have I pin and head pins here's a little trick all right so I have a three-inch 21 gauge head pin here and I want to make a little eye pin component so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna slide my little crystal on let that fall all the way to the bottom there and now on this side I'm gonna take my round nose pliers and I'm just gonna bend that wire in I'm gonna go to the very tippy tippy end there and I'm just gonna curve it and bend it in until I get a solid curve and what I'll end up with is a piece on this side that actually looks straight so now what I want to do is take those pliers come right in at the base of that loop and just bend it backwards that way we get that nice little eye pin there so you can see it right there now it's a nice open eye pin because I'm gonna be attaching them together so I'm okay with that now we can slide our crystal down come in with those round nose pliers and here's where we're gonna make just a very simple wire loop so you just bend that wire backwards bend it up and over and this is the same that you would do with any other eye pin bring it across finishing that loop and now we can come in with our flush cutters and snip that off so now what we have is we have our finished component and a perfectly good usable head pin with absolutely no wasted wire whatsoever so this is a great little trick to really extend your beading stash so now I can use this for another project and set that aside but I have my little component all ready to go so what I'm gonna do to finish up my little project here very quickly is just open up one of those loops same as you would a jump ring just give it a nice little pinch backwards slip on my charm close that up again just with my chain nose pliers here just kind of coming in making sure we get a nice good closure there we go right and I'm gonna come to this side and I'm actually gonna add another little component that I made earlier so I'm just gonna slide that on and again we just want to make sure that we're making sure that all of our little loops are nice and closed I know my fingers are in the way it's sometimes hard to see but I'm just giving it a little pinch there at the bottom just to make sure it's nice and perpendicular and finally coming to this side here and now all I need to do is slip on my earring wire double-check that it's facing the right way definitely this happened to me before close that up and we are all done and now we have a beautiful mixed metal earring here featuring some gunmetal ear wires or excuse me some gunmetal head pins that we turned into eye pins and we have that silver and gold up at the top to match that silver and gold at the bottom so that is a quick and easy way to do this and we have wasted no wire and that is such a great useful tip especially when we're trying to like I said extend that stash and get as many beautiful pieces of jewelry possible I hope you enjoyed these little tips and tricks head over to beadaholique.com for more videos tutorials and kits thanks so much for watching if you're new to this channel be sure to
