hi this is kat with beadaholique.com and in this video i'm going to show you how to make a wine necklace featuring a beaded bead of swarovski crystals now let me first start by showing you the beaded bead that i created and we do have a full video showing you how to do this technique and this is actually really fun it makes for a wonderful little style there and you can see that i've chosen that beautiful silver swarovski crystal all right so i have my beaded bead there and i've also pulled out two of the same bicones that i was using to create my beaded bead now that bead is made from four millimeter bicone swarovski crystals so i have that set there and now i also have a magnetic clasp you can also use a lobster clasp if you like for this technique i have some jump rings here now these are four millimeter 20 gauge jump rings i also have a single head pin and this is a ball head pin it is 21 gauge and two inches and then i have two lengths of gold two millimeter rolo chain now we get a lot of questions about sizing so i'm going to show you a little trick that i use when i'm trying to size something especially when you're sizing it for yourself so i've already pre-cut my chain into an 8.5 millimeter and or excuse me an 8.5 inch and a 13 inch now the reason for that is actually i had some scraps laying around so this is actually two different chains from previous projects so i thought it would be a great way to showcase how to utilize them in a new way because eight and a half inches it was too long for a bracelet and then i would end up with less and 13 inches was too little for a necklace so then i would have to add more somehow so that's exactly what i've done here okay so for the tools that i'm going to be using i have a couple pairs of chain nose pliers here i have a pair of round nose pliers and i have a pair of flush cutters so very basic tools to get us started so the first thing i'm going to teach you is how to complete that beaded bead and turn it into a component so i'm going to take my head pin here and all i'm going to do is slide on one bicone and let that fall all the way down to the bottom and then i'm going to take that bead and i'm going to find a good spot to go straight through the dead center and come out the other side so what it's going to do is it's going to look a little new years like it's going to let that ball drop there and then i'm going to add on another bicone to the top now you want to make sure that everything is centered so that that bicone kind of fills in that little gap there because you don't want it to move too much so we have our little component just like that so what we're going to do now is we are going to come in with our round nose pliers and we're going to get as close as we can to that bicone just a little bit above and we're going to bend our wire back and then take that wire and go up and over and wrap it around those round nose pliers move it around bring that wire just across just like so we want to create a nice simple wire loop and i'm going to go ahead and remove that and then come in with my flush cutters and trim that off so now we have our little component there so what i'm going to do now is i'm just going to close up that loop and make sure that it is nice and flush there we go and i'm just giving it a little little pinch there all right so now we have our component i'm just going to kind of set that aside okay so what are we going to do with this chain now the way i like to think about it is i'm going to take this long length here and kind of set that to one side and let me get my tools just sort of out of the way here and i'm going to take the other length and i'm going to set it this way now because i'm creating a y necklace what i like to do is start with the clasp i know it's a little strange but just go with me here so i'm going to come in with my jump rings here and my chain nose pliers and i'm just going to open that up there we go get a little twisted there we go just open that up there we are and i'm going to slip on one side of one chain here and i'm using 20 gauge jump rings because i am going to be putting a little bit of stress on this magnetic clasp here so i want to make sure that it's going to hold up nicely for me slipping on and magnetic clasp problems there we go and just making sure i have a nice good closure there all right so that's one side and you guessed it we're just going to repeat this on the other side here just with one all right open that up i find it's easy because of the magnetic clasp but just to slip on the chain first and then we can come over here and connect that slide it through and close that up making sure we have a really good closure all right perfect so now we have the back of our necklace done so i'm going to kind of move this and it's going to come out of frame there but don't worry it's still there so now what i'm going to do is i want to create a y necklace so let me just sort of move some stuff out of the way here i feel like it's going to be easier easier to see okay so when you have your clasp at the back there just like that i'm going to just move that and it's going to be straight straight straight straight straight i want to keep it nice and straight so that when i know it's going to come around and it's going to meet right up about there with my cord so what i want to do is i want to mark that space by opening another jump ring here so let's see so let's kind of see like where they would naturally come together all right and now i'm just you can see that i'm not even picking up the chain yet i'm trying to find that right length that i want and okay i think i found it there let me just kind of adjust picking up that jump ring one more time all right there we go and now you just wiggle that jump ring in there so it basically just goes right onto that chain and now i'm just going to close that up okay so this is one side here so i have my little jump ring attached so it's going to be my little anchor point all right so you see what we've done there we have our little jump ring there and now i can take another jump ring and i'm going to come in on the other side here and i like that the jump rings are a little bit bigger than the rolo chain and i did it that way on purpose so that you kind of have a little geometric element so now i have this one and now what i'm going to do is i'm going to bring it together and i'm going to hook it on to that last little jump ring there so this is going to create that y all right perfect so now when you look at our necklace we have our little y happening here with our strand coming down the center that makes sense all right perfect so now i also know that i have eight and a half inches here and then this is now eight and a half inches to here so what do i have i have a 17 inch necklace and of course we added the clasp so it's probably about 17 and a quarter 17 and a half so that's one way to judge it but that also makes sure that your clasp stays at the back of your neck okay so finally we are ready to add in our last little piece here now here's another option for you to adjust the size i'm going to add my beaded bead so that it sits right at the bottom there i want a nice long elegant size there but you can also trim that up at this point if you want you'll have a little scrap so unfortunately you don't get rid of all of your scrap but it's a good way to kind of judge from here so now you have this necklace put together and now you can add that little extra embellishment at the bottom so again i mean this is really simple all it is guys is techniques of opening and closing some jump rings and then um that simple wire loop and then the hardest part really is that beaded bead so if you didn't want to do this with a beaded bead you could add a swarovski pendant you could add anything else a big charm if you want let's make sure we get our chain on there though but it's really really simple and also you can see that i'm using a very delicate chain for this mostly because it's what i had scrap left over with but if you wanted to you could use a thicker chain and to create this same style alright so there you have a beaded bead y necklace there i know it's not all fitting in frame for me but there you have it thank you so much for watching you can
