Designing Jewelry with November's Birthstones: Citrine and Topaz

November is one of those lucky months that has two beautiful birthstones: citrine and topaz. Both of these gemstones are known for wonderful fall hues of rich caramel, orange, and yellow depending on the stones but topaz can actually come in pinks, blues, reds, and more.

In addition to both stones being known for their similar color palettes, they both are said to have calming and healing properties. Another similarity is that they are both very affordable stones compared to some other gemstones like rubies or diamonds. This makes them very attractive for jewelry making.

Citrine is actually a type of quartz and its name derives from an old French word meaning lemon - which is appropriate since most citrine has a distinctive yellow hue. Citrine has been popular for thousands of years and can often be found in museum jewelry collections from ancient times.

Topaz is a gemstone made of aluminum and fluorine. It is said to represent love, warmth, and loyalty. The cost of topaz often is dependent on its size, clarity, and color - with some colors such as red being very prized and sought after.
