Art Inspiration for DIY Jewelry: Olive Trees with Yellow Sky and Sun by Van Gogh

Art can mean so many different things to different people and that is part of its magic. This painting by Vincent Van Gogh was painted in 1889 during the Post-Impressionist movement. The landscape oil on canvas painting is titled Olive Trees with Yellow Sky and Sun and features Van Gogh's characteristic brush strokes and sense of movement.

If you are a jewelry designer, you are always seeking inspiration and ideas. Sometimes that inspiration comes easily and sometimes it can be challenging. If you are looking for a color palette or feel for a design, art can be a great place to start. Try pulling the colors out of the painting and finding beads the complement the overall aesthetic. I have used this painting here to find beads for a new jewelry design!

For the beads, I want to find rusts, browns, yellows, oranges, and greens. I like mixing shapes and styles of beads so I will be looking for focal beads as well as simple accent beads like seed beads. This painting has warm tones so I am thinking gold findings and chain, but antiqued brass or copper/antiqued copper would also work well.

Silk Rayon Thread Pendant, Tassel with End Cap 30mm, Gold and Golden Yellow (2 Pieces)

For this painting in particular, Czech glass beads like Raven's Journey lend themselves especially well to the feel of the design. Get inspiration by our Raven's Journey Czech glass selection and create more dreamy designs.
