My favorite seed bead is definitely the Miyuki 11/0. They are so uniform and sit so perfectly. But I love any seed bead. Bead weaving might be my favorite in the jewelry making. There’s so many projects you can do with them and they look marvelous.

I’ve been working with seed beads for over 40 years. My favorite sizes are 8, 11, and 15, depending on my project. I’m hooked on Kumihimo and love the consistent quality and cut of the Japanese seed beads. I also love to use the Czech seed beads for my Kumihimo bracelets and necklaces. It takes a lot of patience to string an elaborate design, and weave in one tiny #11 or #15 bead at a time, but I love the result. Using “Bead Smith’s S-Lon Micro” cord/thread makes it possible to hold the Kumihimo structure with the tiny seed beads.

The 11/0 basic seed beads are the ones I use the most, but I like adding in 15/0 beads, too. I’ve used 8/0 with leather bracelets – I guess I like them all! :)
