I use small zip lock bags to store my bead “soup”.

    Marsha - December 12, 2024

Bead Soups are sorted by dominant color/palette, and usually left in a stout bag.

If I have several beads left over from a strand, I keep them in the bag they came in. If I have one or two beads left over, I put them in a large container called “A Really Useful Box.” It’s a hard plastic container with snap lock handles….it’s great!

    Vicki Rhodes - December 12, 2024

I have a few large jars of Bead soup! BUT the jars are sorted by size!

    Margaret Sloan - December 12, 2024

I sort by color for my beads, by type for stringing materials, then by color, if applicable, or by gauge if wire. On C-lon or S-lon, I sort by color first, then by size, all of my leathers are sorted by type, then by colors.

I have a bin for stragglers, and I don’t sort them – I just make earrings or necklaces or bracelets or “bead units” out of them, and use them up that way. I do, however take findings out of any unsorted mixes of beads that I buy, so I’m able to see and use them in a project.

I use multi-drawer units I got from WalMart to store finding in – it looks like the kind of thing you’d find in an auto-parts or hardware store that has little parts or nuts and bolts. I sort by finish first, then by type of finding next.

For the beads and stringing materials, I use ziplock bags, the plastic storage bins with labels on them. It took me a while to even need to develop a storage system, but as my collection got bigger, the need to organize my beads and so forth became apparent, so when everything outgrew Ziplock bags only, I got storage bins (the see-through kind) so I could keep the beautiful chaos tamer. I love sorting and organizing my stash of beads, because inspiration comes out of handling them, but I need to be able to find things easily for projects where I know exactly the beads I want.

In baggies, containers. Basically what ever is handy.

    Kelly Smith - December 12, 2024

I can’t seem to figure out how to organize. So they’re either in a Ziploc or a box.

    Chris Q - December 12, 2024

I store my bead soup in a plastic baggie. I make miniatures and try to incorporate beads and findings into my projects along with making jewelry. This looks like an awesome assortment.

    Nancy B - December 12, 2024

I probably have the worst bead organization in the world!

    Kris H - December 12, 2024

I store mine back in the original container, then back in the drawer with that type of bead. I don’t have bead soup.
