Retired - Wire Wrapped Tila Bead Cuff Bracelet

PROJECT B1000
Designer: Megan Milliken
Skill Level: Intermediate
Shimmering purple and white tila beads adorn free form brass wire wrapped around a brass cuff in this pretty bracelet.
Instructions

Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

  1. Cut two 3' lengths of 22 gauge half round brass wire.
  2. Begin by wrapping your first piece of wire around the end of the cuff bracelet once, with the flat side of the wire against the bracelet. Using a pair of chain nosed pliers, twist the end of the wire around the first loop of wire on the inside of the bracelet. Be sure that the end of the wire is tucked towards the bracelet so that the surface stays smooth.
  3. Wrap the wire around the bracelet in a free form fashion, angling back and forth and intersecting, adding white and purple tila beads here and there. Remember to bring the wire around and go through the second hole of the bead as well. See photo for placement of beads.
  4. Occasionally as you wrap, to hold the wire in place a little better, wrap the wire around one of the previous loops where they intersect. Use chain nose pliers to pull this tight and flatten the loop out.
  5. Be sure to keep all of the wire wrapping tight, bending the wire along the edges of the bracelet to keep the wire stable and tidy looking. If your wire gets bent up and you want to smooth it back out, slide it between the nylon jaw pliers a few times.
  6. When you get close to the end of your first piece of wire, bring the wire to the inside of the bracelet and twist the end around a previous loop with chain nose pliers to secure. Trim the end using flush cutters and make sure that the end of the wire is tucked towards the bracelet using chain nose pliers.
  7. Attach the second piece of wire the same way that you attached the first. Continue as with the first piece until you reach the end of the bracelet. Secure and trim the second piece of wire as you did the first piece.
