By following the instructions below you will make one earring. Repeat all instructions to make the second earring.
- To begin, please watch our video on how to do brick stitch bead weaving. Cut a length of Fireline thread as long as you're comfortable working with (you'll need about 5 feet to weave one earring) and thread a size 12 beading needle.
- You'll be following the bead weaving pattern shown in the photo above. I found it easiest to start with a longer row toward the top of Pikachu's face and weave the top half first. Start by weaving a ladder stitch base row, following the colors of the row indicated by the arrow. Leave a 6 inch thread tail on one end.
- Continue weaving the upper part of the face including the ears, using brick stitch increases and decreases to create the tiered rows in the pattern.
- When you finish the upper part of the pattern, weave back down through your beadwork and begin weaving the rows comprising the lower half of the face.
- When you've finished your weaving, tie off and weave in the thread tail you've been working with.
- Now move to the first thread tail from step 2. Weave up through your beadwork so the thread is exiting the center bead in the small row of 3 beads at the top of Pikachu's forehead. Take one closed silver jump ring and sew through it and then back down into that same center bead, anchoring the jump ring in place. Pass your needle through the loop again, reinforcing the attachment. Then weave in your second thread tail.
- Open an earring hook and slide the jump ring from the previous step onto the wire so it hangs from the loop at the bottom.
- Enjoy your earrings!
